Pictures atan Exhibition
The piano cycle “Pictures at an Exhibition” - Memories of Viktor Hartmann is a composition by Modest Mussorgsky from 1874, which is generally seen as a prime example of program music. The spiritual sentences recognize paintings and drawings that were seen at a memorial exhibition in the year of the deceased friend Viktor Hartmann, the Mussorgsky. The work must have been made at the suggestion of a personal friend, the art critic Vladimir Stasov. He was also involved in naming the pieces.
