Siberian Stomp

A foot-stomping romp of rustic Russian energy, Siberian Stomp features the driving rhythms and pentatonic scales of the music of the southern Siberian Republics of Altai, Khakassia, Tuva, and Buryatia. The Morin Khuur, Mongolia's two string horsehead fiddle is also part of the southern Siberian musical tradition. The bowed parts in Siberian Stomp imitate the Morin Khuur, while the pizzicato parts imitate the plucked instruments of the region. The slides in the melodic passages can double as a preparatory exercise for shifting.
