Valiant Violas

Valiant Violas gives your beginning viola section a chance to shine! This uplifting work is a follow-up to the composer’s "Cellos in Charge". It was inspired by a virtual visit with Linnea Bronson's orchestra students at Pomperaug Elementary School in Southbury, Connecticut. While discussing ideas for a possible sequel to Cellos in Charge with the students, the violas were happy to offer "Valiant Violas"!, Ms. Siegler was thrilled to accept the challenge. The violas take the lead early with an initial statement of the joyful melody and also end the piece again in the spotlight. All sections take turns with the melody, so all players have interest during the piece. There is a short minor section in the middle to give beginners a chance to explore different tonalities and then the triumphant melody returns for a Valiant finish!
